We will be fearless in fighting for what is ours. We will insist on the Hague Ruling. But at the same time as being fearless, we are going to be fair with our discussion and management of the situation on both sides. We will be faithful to our farmers and fisherfolks. Ang mga mangingisda, dapat makapangisda sa loob ng ating teritoryo sa dagat. At iyon ang magaganap: undeterred, peaceful, and productive fishing opportunities under our rules. Filipino fishermen first.

The President is open to possible cooperation with foreign entities in exploring and extracting mineral and gas resources in the West Philippine Sea, Any venture, however, must be compliant with the Philippine Constitution and local laws, and have terms which protect the national interest and are beneficial to the Filipino people.

Palayasin natin ‘yung China sa WPS (West Philippine Sea), ‘yung kanilang ginagawang pagkamkam, pero hindi para angkinin natin kundi lahat ng claimants diyan ay magkaroon ng joint program para sa common development at i-transform into an economic zone ‘yung buong WPS.

We must show China that Filipinos are also patriotic.

We should be more assertive - and consistent - in making our stand on the West Philippine Sea. We should be more assertive. Di ba dati napaka-accommodating natin? We are already being bullied because we don't do too much. It's only now na nagkaroon ng awakening not only on the part of our leaders but other countries as well.

Kaya natin, [against China's assertion on West Philippine Sea] kaya lang first time maging duwag ng mga Pilipino ngayong administration.

For China, we will collaborate with them in the areas that we have no conflict, such as trade and investments, much like what Vietnam has been doing. But when it comes to the West Philippine Sea, we cannot deal with them without their recognition of the arbitral ruling. We want to create better ties, especially in the areas of protection of our citizens, embracing exports, bolstering trade, military intelligence capabilities, and of course, protecting the West Philippine Sea.

I firmly believe that my statement reflects the sentiment of the majority of the Filipinos, that we should stand strong in protecting our sovereign rights while pursuing a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the dispute,

Ayaw naman ng China na mang-giyera sa atin; they don't want to go to war. Ayaw natin mapasok sa giyera against China or against anyone, for that matter. So ang natira is bilateral agreement. So yun ang dapat habulin natin; yun nalang ang natitira sa ating option na praktikal, na pwede maging totoo.
