After all, the information highway is itself a very important part of infrastructure development where the Philippines is a laggard compared to many countries.

The telcos should step up. It's now in the hands of our telcos to step up and to make sure that connectivity is available to all of our students. We have to use all tools available and I'm looking at the experience of our parents and students and I've seen firsthand that connectivity is indeed a big problem.

We just have to beef up 'yung ating internet connections so baka kailangan na talagang umangat 'yung third player and to require the duopoly right now na dapat magbigay talaga ng sakto na mga internet services all the way.

With all due respect to a highly regarded cavalier and distinguished former senate colleague ‘not so bad’ may sound worse than ‘not so good'. In the middle of a pandemic when the order of the day is virtual communication, what we want to hear, at least realistically, is ‘good enough’. Of course, it goes without saying ‘very good’ or even ‘excellent’ is what we all want to hear from DICT.

First, let’s make sure that each barangay has an internet hub so that students without their own gadgets can access resources online. Second, let’s target the students most in need so that we can give gadgets or devices so that their schooling will not be delayed.

In a senate hearing Pacquiao filed Senate Resolution No.435 that reliable internet should be further enhanced amids the pandemic where in distance learning together with economic transactions created a more congested bandwidth allocation among Filipinos.
