AN ACT ESTABLISHING A CAMPUS OF THE POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (PUP) IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CABIAO, PROVINCE OF NUEVA ECIJA, TO BE KNOWN AS THE PUP-CABIAO CAMPUS, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR

PUP-Cabiao Campus Act There is hereby established a campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in the Municipality of Cabiao, Province of Nueva Ecija, to be known as the PUP-Cabiao Campus.

AN ACT REORGANIZING AND CONVERTING THE INSURANCE COMMISSION INTO A COLLEGIAL BODY, AMENDING SECTIONS 437, 438 AND 439 OF REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10607, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS

Aims to regulate the insurance industry and bring stability in the Commission which would now require a majority vote of its members in setting policies and guidelines as well as the exercise of its administrative and adjudicatory powers.

AN ACT MANDATING THE INCLUSION OF A FOREIGN LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH, AS AN ELECTIVE COURSE IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION CURRICULUM

Mandates the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to develop the program to execute and implement this Act. States that the foreign language elective course shall be a basic course for beginners and shall be designed as a three (3)-unit subject to be offered in all higher education institutions.

AN ACT REGULATING THE EDUCATION AND LICENSURE OF PHYSICIANS AND THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE IN THE PHILIPPINES, REPEALING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 2382, AS AMENDED, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

This bill seeks to repeal Republic Act No. 2382 or the Philippine Medical Act 1959 with the intention of coming up with a new law defining the parameters in regulating the education of and medical practice of physicians at a period when advances in medical science and technology is predominant necessitating proportionate and proactive response by the state as a whole and by Congress of the Philippines in particular.

AN ACT MODERNIZING THE REGULATION OF HEALTH FACILITIES AND SERVICES, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR, REPEALING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4226, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE

Renames the Health Bureau of Health Facilities and Services (HFSRB) to the Bureau of Health Facilities and Services (BHFS) which shall be authorized to establish and prescribe rules, regulations, and standards in the construction and operation of health facilities; inspect and monitor for continued compliance; implement a classification system; approve building plans and construction design; collect fees; grant regulatory authorizations such as permits and licenses; and conduct administrative hearing and impose penalties.

AN ACT STRENGTHENING THE NATIONAL PROGRAM FOR THE ELIMINATION OF TUBERCULOSIS, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10767 OR THE

Seeks to support and expand efforts to eliminate tuberculosis as a public health problem in the country by intensifying information and education programs on the principles and practices of preventing, detecting, managing and controlling tuberculosis, as well as development and inclusion of curricula about tuberculosis in the basic education. Provides for the following significant features, among others: provisions on patients’ rights and responsibilities, corporate social responsibility to encourage business corporations to contribute in the on-going efforts to reduce the incidence of TB in the country; convergence of services; TB Strategic Plan for local government units; integration of TB services into established Service Delivery Networks (SDNs) or local health referral system; and inclusion of TB-DOTS treatment as one of the requirements for the conditional cash transfer program.
