Hontiveros was asked for her reaction to Robredo's acceptance of the role as drug czar. She said, "I firmly believe that she could do a much better job than what has been done so far in the past 3 years on addressing our drug problem, problematic drug use." Senate Probe on Pharmally Deal

Organization of Community Pantries

Instead of harassment and threats against community pantry organizers, they should be lauded for embodying all that is good and noble in the Filipino community especially during times of hardship and hunger. Community pantry is a response to the urgent needs of Filipinos for food. It creates a platform for civic-minded citizens to express solidarity with those in need.

Philippines-China Relations

Malacañang should stop misleading the public. Poor in business sense, poor in foreign relations, poor in standing ground against bullies. Yan ang ipinapakita ng administrasyong ito.
May

We have vital national security interests that should never be compromised. We should heighten restrictions on foreign ownership as China's encroachment in the WPS escalates; not make it easier for her to establish a stronghold in our own land.

Anti-terror law

While I acknowledge the Supreme Court's power as the final arbiter of the law, my reasons for voting "no" to the Anti Terror Law when it was being deliberated in the Senate remain. These reasons include the prolonged detention of suspects and the dubious definition of terrorism in the law, which can be used to punish acts of legitimate dissent.

Injustices Committed by the Marcoses during Martial Law

We martial-law babies grew up and became activists in the dying years of martial law. We remember what the comrades before us struggled against and what they suffered, what they sacrificed. And now here we are, living it again, as though we didn't learn our lesson. It seems worse now. The number of killings. The blatant sexism and misogyny, and the destruction of democratic institutions.

Climate Change

In December 2020, during the Senate hearing led by the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, I also flagged land-grabbing and deforestation activities in Masungi, which were suspected to have caused the severe flooding after the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly and Ulysses. Taon-taon tayong binabagyo at binabaha. Let's be serious in our mission of preserving our environment, lest the Philippines lose more than we already lost.

There has been a loud global outcry over climate change in recent years, and many young people are demanding that people in power use their positions to definitively tackle environmental issues that affect our daily lives. It is only right that the Filipino public look for candidates who can lay down programs and strategies that can help mitigate the effects of climate change in our country.

Banning Single-use Plastics

Through this proposed bill, we hope to start a national conversation on the need to reduce plastic pollution in our landfills and the oceans by discouraging people from using single-use plastic materials. The measure seeks to effect positive behavioral change among our people. We hope straws and stirrers will become 'gateway plastics' to convince people to shift from using plastic to reusable products. If we can persuade the people of the positive effects of not using plastic straws and stirrers, we can also encourage them not to use other single-use plastics such as bags and bottles.

Advancing Mining

The issuance of Executive Order 130 is premature. The industry is hounded by environmental and human rights issues. The only way to reform the industry is to pass a new law that will reconfigure how we treat minerals. This new law will provide a much more comprehensive policy framework that will strike a balance between allowing mining and promoting healthful ecology and the welfare of communities who will be impacted by mining.

By allowing Udenna to control both the Malampaya Project and its gas pipeline, as well as the fossil energy resources in the Recto Bank, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) not only deprived the Philippine government of a substantial source of revenue, but also allowed private and possibly foreign interests an undue advantage over the nation through the possession of its vital strategic assets.

Prolonged school closures through alternative learning modalities have resulted in significant learning loss.

July
2019
Aside from the massive democratic deficit President Duterte's version of federalism suffers from, I am worried that his federalist vision is not even economically viable and practical in the first place. Instead of redistributing wealth and dispersing economic development to the regions, President Duterte's federalism might only make the regions poorer and their economies weaker.

This law, with its vague and unconstitutional provisions, will provide government with fearsome legal tools to oppress and silence those who speak out and resist the injustices, the violence and the corruption of those in power.

Slow Internet

Have been seeing many complaints re @Converge_CSU. Lalo na sa ganitong panahon, I expect all internet service providers to honor their commitment to their customers & their hard-earned money. Will be writing a letter to Converge & DICT for a dialogue w/ consumers. ISPs must be truthful about their services and deliver what they promised or refund asap. Everyone needs the internet especially during this pandemic for vital information, for classes, for checking up on loved ones. Wag natin sila i-budul-budol.

Vote-buying

The intent is good and noble but there are practical considerations of how to implement the regulations against vote buying in the digital realm. As it is, allegations of traditional vote buying modes are already difficult to prove and prosecute. This will be even harder to track and trace when done online.

Udenna Corp.'s Acquisition of Malampaya Majority Stake

By allowing Udenna to control both the Malampaya Project and its gas pipeline, as well as the fossil energy resources in the Recto Bank, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) not only deprived the Philippine government of a substantial source of revenue, but also allowed private and possibly foreign interests an undue advantage over the nation through the possession of its vital strategic assets.

Resumption of Face-to-face Classes

Prolonged school closures through alternative learning modalities have resulted in significant learning loss. The resumption of schools may provide much needed social services for children and schools may offer refuge for children who live in abusive homes. Charter Change
