DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año said that the additional funds will allow the government to undertake aggressive contact tracing and active case surveillance and case finding which is a pillar of the National Action Plan against the global pandemic.

 Senate President Vicente Sotto III has been tasked with leading the upper chamber through the coronavirus outbreak. He shepherded the passage of various measures aimed at bolstering President Rodrigo Duterte's pandemic response initiatives, ranging from Bayanihan 1 and 2 to a law expediting the acquisition of COVID-19 vaccines.

He filed several bills covering the different aspects to curb the drug problem. Senate Bill No. 383 entitled “An Act creating a Presidential Drug Enforcement Agency” is an organizational approach to control and eventually eliminate the drug problem by creating an agency that will focus on the coordination of the different anti-drug entities and the implementation of government policies addressing the drug problem. Senate Bill No. 384 entitled “An Act providing for the inclusion of “methamphetamine hydrochloride” commonly known as “shabu” under the classification of dangerous and prohibited drugs,” on the other hand, is a direct approach to ban certain substances prone to abuse.
