Sotto likes to play basketball especially during his time in the university. However, he never considered joining the varsity team seeing that Ateneo already has a solid team. He still would play in minor leagues but nothing really competitive he says.
Sotto says that if he were not a politician, he would be a teacher. He taught for a semester in Arellano University.
Sotto appeared in the Aldub segment of Eat Bulaga, portraying a third-party role to the power couple. He also once shared about a play they had in Kindergarten where he was classmates with actress Janine Gutierrez. He playfully calls said play as his last showbiz project.
His supporters playfully call him Vivico, a play on the phrase "baby ko" and his name Vico. He's also referred to as "Babe Mayor".
A basketball player himself, Sotto picks Ginebra as his favorite PBA team.
He's had surgeries on both of his knees for wear-and-tear from playing basketball.
