A video of Marcos Jr. that shows him avoiding a handshake from a supporter made rounds on social media platforms. In his defense, his camp released a photo of Marcos Jr.'s injured left hand saying that what was caught on video was a normal knee-jerk reaction for anyone who is injured. Netizens were quick to react to said photo as the viral video showed Marcos Jr. taking away his right hand not his left after a supporter presented their hand for a handshake.

Marcos Jr. skipped both presidential debates organized by Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and CNN Philippines. COMELEC Commisioner Guanzon goes public with her personal decision on Marcos Jr. DQ cases

The three active Marcos Jr. disqualification cases that the COMELEC First Division is handling have been consolidated into one and will have one joint decision. Commissioner Rowena Guanzon says she voted for the disqualification of Marcos Jr. saying that she finds basis for moral turpitude. She has given her decision as early as January 17 and adds that she feels someone is intervening with COMELEC causing delays in the release of the decision.

Marcos Jr. caused delays in the pre-conference hearing for his disqualification cases as he was unable to personally appear in court. He was said to be in isolation following his exposure to members of his staff who tested positive for COVID-19. When asked for him to appear virtually through Zoom, his counsel says he is unable to fearing possible transmission of virus.

Disqualification case filed vs Marcos over his guilty conviction on a 1995 tax evasion case

A group of civic leaders filed a disqualification case against Marcos citing his tax evasion case in 1995. They claim that the crime "involves moral turpitude, thereby disqualifying him under the Omnibus Election Code to be a candidate and to hold any public office." They also say that Marcos Jr., lied under oath when he declared that he has never been liable for any offense and that should be sufficient grounds for disqualifying him as a candidate.

In an investigative piece by Rappler, a former employee of now-defunct Cambridge Analytica claims that Marcos Jr. himself sought their expertise to rebrand the Marcos family name. Cambridge Analytica is able to microtarget people and research what they know about something and eventually make them think otherwise. Said employee agrees that it is historical revisionism but done in a "data-driven and scientific way." Marcos camp files a libel suit against Rappler in response.
