JV blames Jinggoy for Senate race outcome

"I think that was the biggest challenge. The biggest problem. Natural 'yun eh, bihira ang boboto ng dalawa, kasi dose 'yan. Pipili lang 'yan ng isa. Kahit konsehal, board member, kagawad, 'pag tumakbo ang magkapatid. Natural 'yan, either mamili ng isa o kaya may malilito," says Ejercito about his and his brother's Senate candidacies.

JV won't run if Jinggoy does

Citing his lower chances because of split votes and his strong belief against political dynasty, Ejercito says he won't run for re-election if his brother does. He still ran, so did his brother in 2019. Both of them lost.

Ejercito suspended for 90 days

Sandiganbayan Fifth Division ordered the suspension of Ejercito as he faces graft raps. The order stated "accused Joseph Victor Ejercito is hereby suspended from his position as senator of the Republic of the Philippines, and from any other public office which he may now or hereafter be holding for a period of 90 days from receipt of this resolution, unless a motion for reconsideration is seasonably filed." Ejercito challenged this by filing for TRO and injunction from the SC. However, SC upholds the suspension. He voluntary served said suspension starting November that year.

JV is sued by The Ombudsman with graft and technical malversation over anomalous purchase of firearms

In 2016, Ejercito was sued by the Ombudsman for purchasing firearms using the city's calamity fund when there was no actual calamity during his stint as city's Mayor. Ejercito says that the suit is politically motivated. The court ordered his suspension but he was eventually acquitted in the case in 2017.

Rappler curious about Ejercito biggest campaign contributor

In Ejercito's SCR (Schedule of Contributions Received) for the 2013 elections, he listed a certain NGO, JV Para sa Bayan Movement Inc., as his top contributor with 43.69 million donated. Said NGO was incorporated December 2012, only 5 months prior to the election. Rappler is curious how an NGO that reported a capital of 90,000 was able to bankroll Ejercito's campaign with 43.69 M. Said NGO has San Juan listed as its address.

Manny Villar and JV Ejercito have offshore accounts, corporations - PCIJ

The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism reported that Villar and Ejercito have secret corporations in the British Virgin Islands. The story was based on a one-year study conducted by International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) which came up with partial list of at least 500 Philippine residents who have ties to offshore corporations. The two are said to not have reported the corporations claimed to be theirs in their respective SALNs. Ejercito dismisses report as simply politicking.
