JV blames Jinggoy for Senate race outcome
"I think that was the biggest challenge. The biggest problem. Natural 'yan, either mamili ng isa o kaya may malilito," says Ejercito about his and his brother's Senate candidacies.

JV won't run if Jinggoy does

Ejercito suspended for 90 days
Sandiganbayan Fifth Division ordered the suspension of Ejercito as he faces graft raps. The order stated "accused Joseph Victor Ejercito is hereby suspended from his position as senator of the Republic of the Philippines, and from any other public office which he may now or hereafter be holding for a period of 90 days from receipt of this resolution, unless a motion for reconsideration is seasonably filed." Ejercito challenged this by filing for TRO and injunction from the SC. However, SC upholds the suspension. He voluntary served said suspension starting November that year.

In Ejercito's SCR (Schedule of Contributions Received) for the 2013 elections, he listed a certain NGO, JV Para sa Bayan Movement Inc., as his top contributor with 43.69 million donated. Said NGO was incorporated December 2012, only 5 months prior to the election. Rappler is curious how an NGO that reported a capital of 90,000 was able to bankroll Ejercito's campaign with 43.69 M. We are all being shortchanged with what we pay. Think of it, if we are affected, how much more the kasambahays and laborers who invest their hard-earned money to buy cellphone load? It's their only way to unwind and to communicate with their loved ones. And what do they get in return? Load overcharging, poor signal, and slow internet. It is also high time that we put a stop on the duopoly of Smart and Globe in the telecommunications industry. We should let in a third player to encourage competition and to avoid possible collusion in expensive cellphone services. Otherwise, if we just approve Smart's franchise without raising these issues, we will continue to avail poor services.

Pandemic Gov't Response

So many casualties in Bicol Region as a result of Typhoon Usman. Climate Change really needs to be taken seriously. Weather pattern has changed, the magnitude and amount of rainfall has really been enormous.

Slow Internet

Vote-buying

The Zamora camp is accusing us of vote-buying when, in fact, we have not even paid some of our poll watchers due to lack of funds.

Our population is about 100 million strong. And I believe that there are a lot who are qualified to run for positions, just do not have the opportunity. Power, both economic and political, should not be held by just a few. We need to give chance to others who are equally capable but do not have the opportunity.

Federalism

I have my own apprehension about the proposed federal form of government being pushed at the lower House right now because some of the regions are not that financially capable of competing. Unlike that of Metro Manila, Region III, Calabarzon, Cebu and Davao as these regions are strong enough to stand on their own.

Endo (Contractualization)

Yes. Public office is a public trust. Wala tayong dapat itago. And I am quite proud to stay, in 18 years of being a public servant, wala naman akong isyu ng korapsyon. Reviving Peace Talks with CPP-NPA

I support the position of the President that the venue of the peace talks between the government and the CPP should be in the Philippines. If one of the goals of the peace talks is to attain unity and reconciliation, what better way to demonstrate this than having the negotiations here in our own country. I also believe that having the negotiations here will give the talks more legitimacy, transparency, and urgency in resolving the decades-long conflict.

The railway system could serve as the backbone of our economy, it will create growth nodes and spread out development across the countryside. I believe there is no other way than the railway system that we could address the traffic congestion in Manila and other key urban cities.

February 2019 Improvement of Mass Transportation (Agree)

Going back to the records of the Senate, I voted in favor only because of my advocacy to have a better railway system in the country but I almost voted no because I was really worried that it may affect about 18-million Filipinos. He said that those who do not belong to that bracket will now shoulder the brunt of the excise taxes that will be imposed. Of course kasama dyan yung rising prices of commodities which is already happening right now. Maganda naman ang intention ng batas to exempt those in the lower bracket as they will not be paying anymore income taxes. It will benefit about six million of our workers.
